Meet the Instructor: Dr. Tim Tseng

The Pacific Area Director for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries.

Rev. Timothy (Tim) Tseng, Ph.D., is the Pacific Area Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM). He has been a seminary professor, a non-profit organization founder and executive, and a pastor. He has also served as the President of the Asian American Baptist Caucus, the Board of the American Baptist Historical Society, and on the American Baptist Churches, USA General Board. Tim’s calling has been to strengthen Asian American Christian witness through research, teaching, and supporting ministry leaders. He has lectured, led workshops, and published in the areas of Chinese American Christianity, Asian American studies, evangelicalism, the social gospel, the history of Christianity, and race in American history.

Tim’s raison d’etre is helping followers of Jesus flourish wherever faith and life intersect. He is especially concerned about the role of Christianity in society. This includes a concern to help younger, disillusioned, and skeptical Christians to re-construct their faith for today’s post-Christian, global, multi-ethnic, and multi-racial society.

Tim and Betty have been married for 36 years. Raised in New York City, they’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for twenty-one years and have two adult sons, Nathaniel and Benjamin.

If you have any questions about the course, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Tseng at drtimseng@gmail.com.

Join Dr. Tseng as he participates in a Faith and History virtual panel on April 29 at 10 am Pacific Time/1 pm Eastern Time.
