This semester-long course focuses on exegesis of the Gospel of John, including familiarity with distinctive traits of John's narrative as well as John's unique portrait of Jesus. We will explore the theological perspective of the “Fourth Gospel”—how it imagines the relationship between God, Jesus, and the world. The course will also look at how John has been interpreted through the ages and how we might understand it in our own context.
