Kevin Lazarus

Doctoral Fellow, PhD Candidate in Ethics & Society

Kevin Lazarus is the Doctoral Fellow at The Candler Foundry and a doctoral candidate in Ethics and Society at Emory University. His dissertation examines Christian theology, disability studies, and critical theory by analyzing the discourse surrounding L'Arche—an international network of faith-based caregiving communities focused on adults with intellectual disabilities. Lazarus's work critiques the theological instrumentalization of disability while exploring the possibilities and limits of understanding God’s activity in relation to intellectual disability, particularly within the context of community, care, and vulnerability. An ordained minister in the United Methodist Church with hospital chaplaincy experience, Lazarus holds a BA in Spanish and Psychology from Auburn University and an MDiv from Emory's Candler School of Theology.
